Self-Care Ideas

It’s easy sometimes to forget that our bodies are not just transport systems for our brains. I like to think of myself as a team; my brain, my personality, my body, and my spirit. All these parts make up me. I try to consult the whole team when I’m making decisions. Things like, “wow, that cookie looks amazing. I think I will eat 27 of them.” Sure, my tastebuds are going to be super happy and maybe even my personality will feel good about that decision. But what about the rest of me? There are other members of “me the team” that are affected by these decisions so it’s best to take “everyone” into consideration. 

Making decisions about self-care should be decided by “me the team” as well. Sure, my brain might be super jazzed about staying up super late to finish that assignment, but how is my body going to feel the next day? Is staying up late depleting my spirit? Probably! 

I’m pretty passionate about self-care, but sometimes it’s hard to even know what that looks like.
