Botanical Name: Achillea millefolium
Family Name: Asteraceae (Compositae)
Therapeutic Uses: Yarrow should be in every home apothecary due to its wide range of uses. It is antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anodyne (pain relieving) so it’s great for wound healing. It also helps stop blood flow where it’s not supposed to be flowing both internally and externally (internal hemorrhaging and external wounds). It is a slightly bitter herb which means it will help with digestive issues and it lends support to the liver.
Cautions: Don’t work with yarrow if you are allergic to members of the asteraceae family. Don’t take large doses during pregnancy.
