Botanical Name: Coriandrum sativum
Family Name: Apiaceae
Culinary Uses: The leaves of this herb are often referred to as cilantro while the seeds are called coriander. The two have very different flavors. Cilantro has a fresh, zesty flavor with a hint of citrus and a touch of pepperiness. Some people describe it as having a slightly herbal or grassy note as well. I use cilantro in my Mexican Magic seasoning blend.
Cautions: Generally regarded as safe.
